PROFILE

CANCER CHEMOPREVENTION RESEARCH CENTER (C C R C)

FACULTY OF PHARMACY UGM

CCRC is a research unit dedicated for the development of chemoprevention agent and anti-cancer from natural as well as synthetic compound.

Vision

Become center of excellence in development of cancer chemoprevention research for regional level based on national potency.

Mision

1. Conduct research inovative-inventive.

2. Educate about cancer chemoprevention both the scientific and popular.

3. To provide service and conduct cooperation for development of chemoprevention agent.

FIELDS OF ACTIVITY

1. Research

In vivo:

  • Development of Carcinogenesis Model

  • Molecular mechanisms analysis of in vivo chemoprevention agents include gen mutation,  protein regulator expression that pay role in carcinogenesis (imunohistokimia), also include apoptosis target (TUNEL assay) and proliferation (AgNOR).
  • Analysis of estrogenic/antiestrogenic agent, target for mammary organ, bone (include osteoclasts cells observation), dan uterine.

in_vivo1

In vitro:

  • Exploring chemoprevention agent potency / co-chemotherapy using various cancer cells (breast cancer cell T47D and MCF7, cervical cancer cell HeLa, colon cancer WiDr). Cytotoxic test done with MTT method and antiproliferation observation using doubling time method and AgNOR.

  • Exploring molecular mechanism of anticancer agents (targets on cell cycle with flow cytometry, apoptosis with double staining method, protein expression with immunocytochemistry and western blot, angiogenesis with CAM method, and metastasis as well as antiosteoclastogenesis using ODF inducted Raw 264 cell model).

in_vitro

In silico:

  • Analysis of ligand-receptor interaction model  by docking method, using MOE program (Licensed to Faculty of Pharmacy , UGM).

  • Development and utilization of bioinformatics (including NCBI, PDB, dan PFAM webpages).

2. Education and Exercise

  •  National and international workshop and seminar, supervision of Bachelor, Master, and Doctoral students, providing library facilities and arranging student exchange to several foreign universities, such as NAIST in Japan. Students are guided not only towards their final project, thesis and dissertation, but also to participate in PKM, LKTM, and to improve their presentation and discussion skills.
  • The theme of workshop : in vivo anticarcinogenesis, ovariectomy, isolation and DNA electroforesis, polimorfisme (RFLP and SSCP methods), bioinformatics. Workshop is held every year and could to hold based on request or institute cooperation.

3. Cooperation, Service and Product Development

kerjasama

Cancer Chemoprevention Research Center ( CCRC ) open cooperation chance of research and product development with college, research institutions, and industry in field of chemoprevention agents development, cosmetics, and food supplement.
